For years, IOF Black Fundraisers UK (BF-UK) has been developing, responding to and improving the support available for small charitable organisations in the UK. In that time, these small largely Black Asian and Multi-Ethnic (BAME) led organisations have consistently complained about the limited affordable opportunities available to help develop their organisational expertise and help them become more sustainable.
Now we are very pleased to launch these videos which will bridge the gap between what is needed and what is currently available for small charities.
Carol Akiwumi, Chair of BF-UK (2012-2017) and AVOCADO Project Director said:
“According to the NCVO, non-profit organisations have lost more than £4bn in grants from the government over the last decade and there is little to suggest that this trajectory is going to change in the face of austerity. Inevitably small charities are often the hardest hit and consequently the most vulnerable and deprived in our communities, who they serve tirelessly. Furthermore, with their limited capacity and knowledge of the rapidly changing regulatory landscape, they are now likely to face the toughest times they have faced in years and to fall foul of new laws which many of them are completely unaware of.”
