AVOCADO Incubator Programme
Kick-starting and equipping young entrepreneurs with innovative and ethical tools for success

What is AVOCADO?
AVOCADO is a wholistic nine-month incubator programme, designed to kickstart and bootstrap small businesses led by young people and women in Uganda. The AVOCADO incubator program provides foundational theoretical knowledge and practical application about leadership, strategy, entrepreneurship, sustainability and innovation based on christian ethical principles. Participants will develop their capabilities and skills to act upon business ideas and opportunities in a challenging environment. The AVOCADO Incubator Programme is a collaboration between Money4YOUth and the Natural Resource Conservation Network.
Efforts and courage are not enough without knowledge, purpose and direction.
By the end of the programme, participants will have the confidence to start businesses that:
have a proven concept with prospects of viability/profitability
exist to solve a problem or meet a local need
are run with the tools for sustainability in the 21st century global economy
Methodology of instruction:
The teaching will be instructor led and characterised by a strong emphasis on participants’ interactivity during the bootcamps and will employe: lecture, discussion, brainstorming and role-plays.
Learners would be expected to actively participate individually and work in small groups during workshops, as well as undertake written and oral presentations. Powerpoint presentations would be used and handouts produced.
Following the bootcamps, participants would be expected to carry out assignments and implement action plans they have developed.
The 2020 pilot programme will consist of the following 5 modules:
Strategic Business Development
Finance and Financing
Innovation and Creativity
Resilience and Wellbeing
The 2020 bootcamp dates are:
1st Bootcamp: Friday March 20th to Monday 23rd, 2020
2nd Bootcamp: June 2020 (Dates TBC)
3rd Bootcamp: September 2020 (Dates TBC)
